Baku Book Center hosts meeting with Azerbaijani national writer Anar

On September 4, the Baku Book Center hosted a special event featuring Anar, national writer of Azerbaijan and Chairman of the Writers’ Union of Azerbaijan. Held as part of the “Conversation with the Writer” project, the gathering brought together readers, students, and book enthusiasts eager to spend an evening with one of the country’s most distinguished literary figures. Anar is among Azerbaijan’s best-selling authors, with more than 50 books published in numerous languages worldwide. His extensive body of work includes novels, plays, film scripts, poetry, and translations. Expressing his appreciation to the Baku Book Center for organizing the event, Anar подчеркнул the importance of such initiatives in promoting a culture of reading and inspiring young people to develop a lasting love for books. During the discussion, the writer shared his views on contemporary Azerbaijani literature, spoke about foreign authors who have influenced his worldview, and reflected on his experience as a screenwriter and his leadership of the Writers’ Union of Azerbaijan. He also revealed that he is currently working on a new autobiographical novel, which will explore memories of historical events, encounters with remarkable individuals, and impressions from his travels—offering readers a vivid and engaging personal narrative. Touching on his cinematic projects, Anar noted that the life and creative legacy of the eminent Azerbaijani playwright Jafar Jabbarli may become the subject of his next screenplay.
