Baku Book Center marks 80th anniversary of Ramiz Fataliyev

The Baku Book Center hosted a commemorative evening on June 5 dedicated to the life and creative legacy of renowned Azerbaijani director and screenwriter Ramiz Fataliyev, marking the 80th anniversary of his birth. The centerpiece of the event was the presentation of his book Black on White.
Ramiz Fataliyev left an indelible mark on both Azerbaijani and Soviet cinema. His name is associated with a number of critically acclaimed and widely loved films, including The Sixth, An Umbrella for Newlyweds, Anecdote, The Scoundrel, One’s Own Happiness, The Little Things of Life, Old Letters, The Day After Tomorrow, at Midnight, The Rooks, A Family Affair, Without Witnesses, and many others. The event brought together the filmmaker’s family members, friends, colleagues, and former students. Excerpts from Black on White were read by acclaimed actors Mabud Maharramov and Firdovsi Atakishiyev, as well as members of the author's family, creating a warm and reflective atmosphere.
A musical tribute to Ramiz Fataliyev was presented by renowned composer Faig Sujaddinov. Prominent writers Anar and Chingiz Abdullayev also addressed the audience, highlighting Fataliyev’s significant contribution to the development of Azerbaijani cinema and culture. They emphasized the enduring value of his artistic legacy for future generations and wished him continued inspiration and success. More than a book presentation, the evening served as a heartfelt tribute to a remarkable artist whose work helped shape Azerbaijan’s cultural landscape for decades.
