15.07.2026
On July 15, the Baku Book Center became a vibrant venue for music and poetry, hosting an evening entitled "Şəhərin yay günləri" ("Summer Days in the City"). The event brought together members of the creative intelligentsia, prominent figures from the cultural and artistic communities, and numerous admirers of music and literary traditions. The program was hosted by Huseynaga Aslanov and opened by Gunel Rzayeva, Director of the Baku Book Center.
The highlight of the evening was a performance by the Jahangir Jahangirov Choir of the International Mugham Center, under the artistic direction of conductor Tarana Yusifova. The choir presented a selection of works from the golden treasury of Azerbaijani musical culture - beloved compositions that have become an enduring part of the nation's cultural heritage.
The poetry program followed seamlessly, complementing the musical performances. Salim Babullaoglu and Ilgar Fahmi, Secretaries of the Azerbaijan Writers' Union, presented a carefully curated selection of Azerbaijani poetry, celebrating the richness and diversity of the country's literary tradition.
A special highlight of the evening was the performance by People's Artist of Azerbaijan Mehriban Zyaki. Accompanied by pianist and international competition laureate Vurgun Vekilov, she presented the poetry of Vagif Samadoghlu, creating a subtle and expressive artistic dialogue through the combination of dramatic recitation and live musical accompaniment.
The evening concluded with a choreographic performance by students of Child and Youth Development Center No. 3, bringing the program to a fitting close by uniting music, poetry, and dance in a harmonious artistic celebration.
