Baku Book Center hosts meeting with historian, Prof. Dilara Seidzade

The Baku Book Center hosted a meeting with prominent Azerbaijani historian, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Dilara Seidzade on September 17 as part of the “Facing History” project.The event was dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the relocation of the government of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic (ADR) from Ganja to Baku on September 17, 1918. The decision to transfer the capital of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic was made on September 15, 1918. This period coincided with the liberation of Azerbaijan by Turkish troops from Dashnak-Bolshevik forces. Following the liberation of Baku by the Caucasian Islamic Army on September 17, the ADR government moved from Ganja to Baku. In her speech, Professor Dilara Seidzade noted that the nationwide celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic holds significant political and scholarly importance. She expressed her gratitude to the Head of State for declaring 2018 the Year of the ADR. Answering questions from the audience, Professor Seidzade emphasized that at the beginning of the 20th century, prominent Azerbaijani figures such as Ismail Khan Ziyadkhanov, Alimardan bey Topchubashov, and others played a crucial role in the establishment of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic. She also highlighted the special contribution of Ganja and its residents to the development of the ADR. During the event, Professor Seidzade presented and signed her scholarly monograph “Azerbaijan in the Early 20th Century: The Path to Independence.” The book provides valuable insights into the activities of the ADR government, socio-political processes in Azerbaijan in the early 20th century, and significant historical facts related to the State Duma of Russia. The book is intended for historians, researchers, students, and general readers interested in the history of Azerbaijan.
