A presentation of Medical Genetics in Neurology, a textbook edited by neurologist and Professor Ayten Mammadbayli, Head of the Department of Neurology at Azerbaijan Medical University, was held at Baku Book Center on May 15. The textbook examines hereditary and genetic disorders of the nervous system, the role of genetic mutations in neurological diseases, molecular genetic mechanisms, methods of genetic analysis and diagnosis, and the genetic basis of mitochondrial and neurodegenerative disorders. As the first comprehensive Azerbaijani-language publication dedicated to medical genetics in neurology, the book is intended for medical students, residents, neurologists, geneticists, neurosurgeons, psychiatrists, and other healthcare professionals. Speaking at the event, Professor Geray Geraybeyli, Rector of Azerbaijan Medical University; Professor Nazim Panakhov, Rector of the Azerbaijan State Institute for Advanced Medical Studies; and Professor Rena Shiraliyeva, Head of the Department of Neurology and Clinical Neurophysiology at the same institute, highlighted the textbook's importance and noted that it would make a significant contribution to the development of medical genetics and neurology in Azerbaijan.
