Baku Book Center hosts International Philately Meeting

The International Philately Working Group meeting was held in Baku on April 15–16. The event was organized by Azerpost LLC, operating under AZCON Holding, in cooperation with PostEurop. The meeting brought together representatives of postal operators from various European countries, as well as delegates from the Universal Postal Union (UPU) and the World Association for the Development of Philately (WADP). Over the course of two days, participants discussed key topics such as the future development of philately, opportunities for international collaboration, and the evolving role of postage stamps in the modern era. A special program marking the 70th anniversary of EUROPA stamps was presented as part of the event. One of the highlights was the official cancellation ceremony of the commemorative “EUROPA” stamp, along with an exhibition showcasing stamps issued under this iconic label. The opening event took place at the Baku Book Center on April 15. Additionally, a meeting with postcrossers was organized to support the growth of the Postcrossing movement in Azerbaijan, during which participants received special postcards. The event also featured the presentation of the winning design for the 2026 EUROPA stamp competition, created based on a concept submitted by Finland’s postal operator, Posti Ltd.
