Music and poetry evening dedicated to Chinese New Year held at Baku Book Center

On February 11, the Baku Book Center hosted an evening of music and poetry dedicated to the Chinese New Year. The event was organized by the Confucius Institute at the Azerbaijan University of Languages (AUL) with the support of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Azerbaijan. The evening was hosted by Rafig Abbasov, Director of the Confucius Institute at AUL. In her remarks, Gunel Anargizi, Director of the Baku Book Center, highlighted the significance of strengthening cultural ties between the two nations. Ding Tao, Counselor at the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Azerbaijan, noted the steady growth of cultural and humanitarian cooperation between Azerbaijan and China. Kamala Mammadova, a representative of the Confucius Institute, spoke about the rich history and longstanding traditions associated with the celebration of the Chinese New Year. Following the official opening, the evening continued with a vibrant concert program. Participants recited poems in Chinese and performed songs and dances. The event also featured booths dedicated to Chinese calligraphy, wood carving, lacquer painting, and tea ceremony traditions. Guests had the opportunity to explore examples of ancient Chinese art.
