Baku Book Center hosts event commemorating 35th anniversary of Black January

On January 17, the Baku Book Center held a commemorative event marking the 35th anniversary of the Black January tragedy. The event began with a moment of silence in honor of those who lost their lives defending the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, as well as the victims of the recent plane crash near Aktau.
Speakers highlighted that the events of January 20 remain a symbol of heroism in the nation’s collective memory. It was noted that national leader Heydar Aliyev played a crucial role in shielding Azerbaijan from external threats through his strategic vision. Today, under the leadership of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, President Ilham Aliyev, and with the bravery of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, the country's territorial integrity has been fully restored, marking a historic victory for the Azerbaijani people.
The program continued with performances by members of the Drama Studio, as well as dance and vocal groups from the Children and Youth Development Center No. 3. The event concluded with a performance of the song Azerbaijan by Darya Kshnyakina, daughter of national hero Igor Kshnyakin, a pilot who tragically perished in the Aktau plane crash. Students from various schools across Baku also participated in the event.
