On October 3, the Baku Book Center hosted a seminar titled “How to Build a Successful Career as an International Expert,” led by Dr. Aysel Vazir. Dr. Vazir, a PhD holder and International Expert in Gender Equality, as well as a Certified Expert in Diversity and Inclusion in the Workplace, shared insights on forging a career with international organizations such as UNDP.
Throughout the seminar, Dr. Vazir addressed the challenges and rewards of working as an international expert, highlighting the importance of resilience and adaptability in diverse environments. She encouraged attendees to embrace new cultures and values, emphasizing the dynamic nature of this career path.
"You'll thrive in this field if you enjoy traveling, joining new teams, building innovative projects, and are willing to engage in challenging environments," Dr. Vazir explained.
‘What will you bring to the table? Knowledge and experience, confidence, and sense of security, a fresh perspective and ability’, the expert concluded.
Participants learned about the various responsibilities expected of international experts, including analysis, research, policy development, negotiation, facilitation, technical expertise, and capacity building.
Dr. Vazir also shared her experiences working with regional and country programs through UN in war-affected regions in Eastern Europe, Central Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.
The seminar, organized by the Baku Book Center as part of the awareness-raising "YüksƏL" project, was attended by students from ADA University, Azerbaijan University of Languages, as well as Azerbaijan State University of Economics.
