The Baku Book Center has kicked off its autumn seminars for students as part of the “YüksƏl” project. The first seminar, titled “How Do We Speak Our Native Language?”, took place on September 19. The seminar featured Prof. Sevinj Aliyeva, Director of the Monitoring Center under the State Language Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and TV journalist Nargiz Jalilova, an Honored Artist of Azerbaijan.
Students from Baku State University, Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University, and volunteers from ASAN Service, the Regional Development Public Association, and the Youth Development and Career Center participated in the event.
Gunel Rzayeva, Director of the Baku Book Center, welcomed attendees and expressed gratitude to the Executive Authority of Baku for supporting the project.
During the seminar, speakers addressed challenges related to modern Azerbaijani language usage. They emphasized the importance of adhering to literary language rules, including logical organization of text, correct word expression, attention to verbal vowel harmony, and proper word order and sentence structure. The speakers also highlighted the necessity of inviting renowned announcers and linguists fluent in Azerbaijani to television channels. They said that the recent agreement on a common Turkic alphabet would enhance mutual understanding among Turkic peoples and help protect their languages.
Following the presentations, participants engaged in a discussion and had the opportunity to ask questions. At the seminar's conclusion, all attendees received books on the topic.
The primary goal of the "YüksƏl" project is to broaden young people's horizons, increase their interest in contemporary issues, and deepen their understanding of various subjects.
