Outstanding Pianist and Teacher Elmira Safarova Commemorated with Concert at Baku Book Center

On September 23, the Baku Book Center hosted a piano recital to celebrate the 90th birthday of Elmira Safarova (1934-1997), a distinguished pianist, teacher, and Honored Artist of Azerbaijan.
The event was part of the XVI Uzeyir Hajibeyli International Music Festival and drew attendance from notable cultural figures, students, colleagues, friends, and family of the late pianist.
Gunel Anargizi, the director of the Baku Book Center, opened the evening by describing Elmira Safarova as a unique and compassionate teacher, an invaluable friend, and a true patriot of her country.
Rector of the Uzeyir Hajibeyli Baku Music Academy and People's Artist Farhad Badalbeyli, along with PhD in History of Art Ulkar Talibzade and Deputy Minister of Culture Murad Huseynov, shared their cherished memories of Elmira Safarova. They highlighted her significant contributions to the development of Azerbaijani musical culture and noted that her students continue her legacy through their concert and teaching activities.
The evening featured a piano recital showcasing works by great composers.
In closing, Elmira Safarova's sister, academician and musicologist Zemfira Safarova, expressed gratitude on behalf of the family to the organizers and guests for honoring the memory of this remarkable musician and teacher.
