The Baku Book Center on December 7 hosted a meeting with the famous Romanian poetess, writer, human rights activist Ana Blandiana and presentation of her book of poems “İndi mən sənə ibadət edirəm” (“Now I worship you”). Speakimg about Ana Blandiana, Secretary of the Azerbaijan Writers Union Salim Babullaoglu said that the Romanian poetess was recently awarded the Vagif Samedoglu medal for her contribution to the world litaratrure. The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Romania to Azerbaijan Mr. Vasile Soare said that the outstanding representative of the literary generation of the sixties Ana Blandiana made huge contribution to the revival of Romanian poetry after the fall of the Stalin regime. Mr. Ambassador emphasized that the translation of Ana Blandiana’s poems into the Azerbaijani language and the publication of her book is a very significant event for the literary and cultural life of Romania and Azerbaijan. During the evening Ana Blandiana read her poems from “Now I worship you” book, while Afag Garayeva performed piano compositions of Azerbaijani and world’s composers. At the end of the evening, Ana Blandiana signed her books for the guests. “Now I worship you” book was translated into Azerbaijani by Salim Babullaoglu and Jale Ismail. The book was prepared as part of the Azerbaijan Writers Union’s project “Baku Meetings of Ana Blandiana”.
