The Baku Book Center on Feb. 20 hosted the presentation of the Azerbaijani translation of the poetry collection "Dan ulduzu" ("Morning Star") by the outstanding Romanian poet Mihai Eminescu. The book was published by the Union of Writers of Azerbaijan.
The book includes several poems by Eminescu and his poem "The Morning Star" translated into Azerbaijani by the poet Salim Babullaoglu.
Speaking at the event, the Ambassador of Romania to Azerbaijan Vasile Soare said that Mihai Eminescu has left a very rich literary heritage, which is the property of Romanians and Moldovans. Mr. Soare said, ‘culture unites us all, despite the difficult times in which we live.’
People's writer Anar, poet Salim Babullaoglu and other guests said that the publication of Eminescu's works in Azerbaijani is a significant event in the cultural life of our country. Hosted by TV presenter Jeyhun Ali the event featured reading of various poems by Eminescu and music performed by the laureate of international competitions Fagan Hasanli.
