A physician on what it's like to get and treat COVID-19. New talk as part of YÜKSƏL project

Can face masks help prevent the spread of the coronavirus that causes COVID-19, why the severity of COVID-19 varies from mild or no symptoms to severe or sometimes fatal illness, what are the signs and symptoms of coronavirus disease, how can you protect yourself and save the lives of your loved ones? All these questions were in the focus of an online talk by Chief doctor of the military hospital of the State Border Service, doctor of medical sciences, surgeon Kenan Yusif-zade at the Baku Book Center.

Themed as “COVID-19 story by the patient and the doctor”,  the talk was held in the format of ZOOM conference as part of the third phase of the BP-sponsored YÜKSƏL project on July 1.

Kenan Yusif-zade, who has recently recovered from COVID-19, shared his own experience and the experience of his family members in the fight against coronavirus infection, dwelled on the main symptoms of COVID-19, transmission methods and generally accepted treatment rules.

The speaker said that during treatment in the hospital, he and his family followed all the recommendations of the doctors and can now share their experience.

Kenan Yusif-zade emphasized that regular handwashing, the use of medical masks and maintaining social distance are main ways to help preventing the spread of Coronavirus.

Talking about the main symptoms of COVID-19, transmission methods and principles of treatment, Kenan Yusif-zade said that virus that causes COVID-19 spreads mainly from person to person. When an infected person coughs, sneezes, or talks, droplets with the virus fly into the air from their nose or mouth. Anyone who is within 6 feet of that person can breathe those droplets into their lungs. As you get older, your risk of being hospitalized for COVID-19 increases.

After the talk Kenan Yusif-zade answered the questions of the participants and recommended some books on the topic.

More than 35 students and teachers joined the lecture, including representatives of the Baku State University, Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University, Azerbaijan Medical University and the Baku branch of the Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University.

The participants can receive books recommended by Dr. Kenan Yusif-zade free of charge after the end of the quarantine regime.
