Famous French publisher holds presentation of rare books collection at Baku Book Center


Owner of “Connaissance et Memoires” publishing house, famous French publisher Mrs. Catherine Cormery on October 25 presented rare books collection entitled “Garden Art and Architecture” (“Art des Jardins et Architecture”) at the Baku Book Center. 
 
The Director of the Baku Book Center, Gunel Rzayeva, welcomed the guests and expressed the hope that the number of events held by the Baku Book Center together with the Embassy of France to Azerbaijan will continue to grow.
 
Speaking at the event, the Ambassador of France to Azerbaijan, Mrs. Aurelia Bouchet, said that the books from the collection of the publishing house of Catherine Cormery are examples of the ancient tradition of book printing.
 
Mrs. Cormery expressed gratitude to the Baku Book Center and the French Embassy for organizing the event and spoke about the features of the art of creating books.
 
Mrs. Cormery noted that she considers the book not only as a source of knowledge, but also as a piece of art.
 
She said that 10,000 book publishing houses operate in France and briefed the audience on the collection. She also added that several editions were donated to many statesmen in various countries. Then Catherine Cormery invited the guests to get acquainted with the collection.
 
The Head of the National Association of Museums of France, Arian De Gernon, presented printed materials from the Mucha Trust Collection to the Baku Book Center.
 
The evening also featured musical performances by outstanding Azerbaijani pianist Saida Tagizade, violinist Jeyla Seidova and Honored Artist of Azerbaijan Nargiz Kerimova.
 
At the conclusion of the event, guests from France were presented gifts on behalf of the Baku Book Center.
