A musical and poetic evening dedicated to the World Book and Copyright Day and organized by UNESCO was held on April 18 at the Baku Book Center.
The General Secretary of the National Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan for UNESCO, Special Envoy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Elnur Sultanov, speaking during the official part of the event, said that the World Book and Copyright Day is celebrated annually around the world under the auspices of UNESCO to promote the enjoyment of books and reading. Each year, on 23 April, celebrations take place all over the world to recognize the scope of books - a link between the past and the future, a bridge between generations and across cultures.
Head of the Department of the Intellectual Property Agency, Natig Isaev, Director of the National Library Kerim Tairov, writer Natig Rasulzade, poet and translator Salim Babullaoglu, founder and director of the Museum of the miniature book Zarifa Salakhova spoke about the important role of books in human life.
The Azerbaijani television and radio presenter Huseynaga Aslanov read excerpts from the works of Azerbaijani and world classics of literature. The laureates of international and republican contests Narmin Rzayeva (piano), Ismail Zulfugarov (tar), Medina Shakhgaldiyeva (kyamancha) performed peieces by well-known Azerbaijani composers, Shur and Bayati Shiraz mugams.
