Book by Fuad Akhundov exposing Armenian lies unveiled at Baku Book Center

The Baku Book Center on June 15 hosted a presentation of scientific brochure by the Head of the foreign media and NGO sector of the Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan Fuad Akhundov “About reasons of disappearance of Joseph Orbeli’s book”. The event took place as part of the “Facing history” project of the Baku Book Center.

The author of the book, Fuad Akhundov, told the participants about the research. Director of the Caucasus History Center Rizvan Huseynov, a researcher Elshad Aliyev, Albanian-Udi Christian religious community chairman, geologist Robert Mobili, guests from Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan also took part in the discussions.

The detailed study made by Fuad Akhundov sheds light on the book of the Soviet orientalist of Armenian origin Joseph Orbeli «Надписи Гандзасара и hАвоцптука» ("Inscriptions of Gandzasar and hAvotsptuk”), which was published in 1919 in Petrograd.

Fuad Akhundov says that for many years this book by Joseph Orbeli, revealing Armenian historical falsifications, was considered lost, but one copy was found in the archives of St. Petersburg in 2011. Fuad Akhundov stresses that in his book Joseph Orbeli convincingly proved the fact that Albanian monuments in the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh were destroyed and misrepresented as Armenian heritage.

However, after the publication of his fundamental work, Orbeli unexpectedly refused to distribute it and decided to withdraw all copies.

In his study Fuad Akhundov reveals the reasons that prompted the Armenian scientist to destroy his historical work, as well as many obstacles Orbeli faced while writing his book and studying the inscriptions of the Gandzasar monastery.
