A signed poetic evening for people with hearing impairments was organized at the Baku Book Center on October 12 by the Deaf Community LLC and “Umid var” Charity. The project was implemented with participation of “Söz” literary project of the Ministry of Culture of Azerbaijan.
Famous poet Nigar Hasanzade hosted the event during which volunteers and children with hearing impairments performed National anthem of Azerbaijan, poems by national poets Nariman Hasanzade, Fikret Goja and Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva through interpreters using sign language.
The event also featured Head of Deaf Community, Nurana Abiyeva, who read Nasimi’s ghazal in sign language.

On September 20, the Baku Book Center hosted the launch ceremony for "A Grammar of Contemporary Azerbaijani," authored by Zhale Garibova, Vice-Rector for International Relations at Azerbaijan University of Languages (AUL), and Sabina Aliyeva, Senior Lecturer in the Department of Azerbaijani Linguistics at AUL.
