Head of the Department of Gender and Applied Psychology of the Baku State University, Professor Rena Ibragimbekova on December 26 held workshop as part of YÜKSƏL project.  A workshop titled “Gender problems in modern society” addressed the issues of gender aspects and research, the concept of gender and transgender. R. Ibragimbekova emphasized that the topic of gender issues is one of the most controversial topics in the modern world. She said that being a man or a woman means not only to have one or another anatomical features, but also to fulfill one or another gender role defined by society.
 
The speaker also dwelled on UN gender statistics, the main areas of gender equality, some statistical indicators, problems of gender mainstreaming, neutrality, stereotypes, roles, etc.. During the lecture, Rena Ibragimbekova also conducted an interesting interactive survey among participants and unveiled its results. The event with the participation of students of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Psychology of the Baku State University, as well as members of the student-volunteer program “Bir” of the Ministry of Education ended with an interesting discussion. Then the participants were presented with books recommended by the speaker.
