The Baku Book Center on February 16 hosted a presentation of the book by the famous Argentine writer Luisa Valenzuela “Başqa silahlar və digər siyasi hekayələr” (Cambio de Armas y otros cuentos politicos), translated from Spanish into Azerbaijani.
The event was organized by Embassy of the Argentine Republic in Azerbaijan. The head of the mission, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Argentine Republic Mariangeles Bellusci addressing the event spoke about the life and work of the writer Luisa Valenzuela, and also thanked Ayten Aliyeva, who translated the book from Spanish into Azerbaijani.
The book “Başqa silahlar və digər siyasi hekayələr”, written in the early years of the military dictatorship in Argentina, talks about torture, repression and their impact on people’s lives.
Translator Ayten Aliyeva and director of the Qanun publishing house Shahbaz Khuduoglu shared their impressions about the book. The event also featured a video message from 95-year-old Louise Valenzuela to Azerbaijani readers.
