On September 11, the Baku Book Center hosted a meeting with the People's Writer of Azerbaijan, Secretary of the Writers' Union, President of the PEN Club, and beloved author Chingiz Abdullayev. The event was organized as part of the Center’s “Conversation with the Writer” project and brought together numerous fans of the acclaimed writer, particularly young readers. Chingiz Abdullayev, the author of nearly 200 books—primarily detective novels—has received multiple international awards for his work. During the meeting, he enthusiastically answered questions from the audience, sharing insights into various aspects of his life and literary career. The master of the detective genre revealed the secrets of his inspiration and offered valuable advice to aspiring authors. Addressing the audience, Abdullayev thanked them for attending and expressed deep gratitude to the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, headed by First Vice President of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva, for creating such a cultural and literary hub in the capital. Known for his surprising, cheerful, and sometimes paradoxical reflections, the writer spoke about maintaining the ability to enjoy life and recalled the happy years spent with his parents. "I’m happy that my parents lived such long lives and that I spent so many wonderful years with them," he said. He also shared his passions beyond writing, including his love for football, his fascination with jazz, and his fondness for Azerbaijani cuisine. Highlighting the importance of learning foreign languages, he remarked: "Knowledge of foreign languages has always been very important and is especially significant today, as it opens a window to the world. But first, you need to know your native language and read literature in it." Abdullayev also emphasized the role of books in shaping individuals and stressed that a true writer should always remain a supporter of their people. The meeting took place in a warm and positive atmosphere. At the conclusion of the event, the writer signed books for his fans and posed for photos with them.The Baku Book Center’s “Conversation with the Writer” project aims to organize meetings between renowned writers, journalists, and publicists and their readers, fostering a love for literature and dialogue with book lovers.
