The Baku Book Center on Feb. 10 hosted a musical evening dedicated to the well-known Azerbaijani composer Elza Ibrahimova, as well as the presentation of the collection of her songs.
Opening the event, Vice-Rector of the National Conservatory, Professor Lala Huseynova spoke about the life and work of the composer. Lala Huseynova noted that many generations of Azerbaijanis grew up on the songs of Elza Ibrahimova, her works were performed by Azerbaijani music stars Rashid Beybutov, Shovket Alekperova, Lyutfiyar Imanov, Sara Gadimova, Akif Islamzade, Gulaga Mammadov, Flora Kerimova and many others.
A tribute to the famous composer continued with a musical performances. People’s artists of Azerbaijan Fidan Hajiyeva and Gulyanag Mammadova sang her songs “Mehribanım”, “Bilməzdim”, “Gedək üzü küləyə” to the accompaniment of Shahin Yahyazade.
The State Trio (Elnara Keberlinskaya (piano), Sabina Ibrahimova (cello), Tohfe Babayeva (violin)) performed the 1st part of Elza Ibrahimova’s Piano Trio.
Laureates of national and international competitions, pianist Vusal Aydemirov and tar player Ibrahim Babayev played the “Requiem”. The culmination of the evening was the performance of Honored Artist Sevda Alekperzade. IShe has performed one of the most beautiful songs of the composer “Sən yadıma düşəndə” (lyrics by Demir Gedebeyli) to the accompaniment of Mukhtar Abseynov.
