A literary seminar entitled “Swedish crime fiction” by Azerbaijani crime fiction specialist and photographer Aydyn Sadykhov was held at the Baku Book Center Feb. 15 upon an initiative of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Sweden to Azerbaijan.
A photo exhibition by Aydyn Sadykhov dedicated to the sights of Stockholm was also presented at the seminar.
Trade and Cultural affairs officer of the Embassy of Sweden to Azerbaijan Sirus Rustamov addressing the event expressed gratitude to the Baku Book Center for assistance in conducting the seminar and briefed the audience on charitable and cultural projects implemented in Azerbaijan by the Embassy of the Kingdom of Sweden.
During the seminar, A. Sadykhov briefed the audience in detail about the history and the specifics of the Swedish crime fiction genre, as well as the famous screen versions of Swedish detective novels.
The seminar highlighted biographies and works of such Swedish crime authors as Maj Sjöwall and Per Walhöö, as well as Maria Lang, Johan Theorin, Lars Kepler, Liza Marklund, Camilla Läckberg, Erik Axel Sund, Arne Dahl, Åsa Larsson, Jens Lapidus, David Lagercrantz and others.
An interesting lecture was accompanied by a PowerPoint presentation.
At the end of the seminar, those who wished were invited to solve a small and entertaining puzzle for logic and deduction. The winner received a special prize from the Embassy of Sweden. In addition, on behalf of the Swedish Embassy to Azerbaijan, all participants of the seminar were presented with gifts - bestseller detective stories by various authors.
