Visually Impaired People Society of Azerbaijan and the Public Association “Əlil Ziyalılar” on May 31 hosted a presentation of the project “Preparation of special format editions for children with visual impairments”. During the event Braille, electronic and tactile books for children with visual and hearing impairments were presented.
The project is funded by the State Social Protection Fund under the Azerbaijan's Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population.
Director of the Baku Book Center Gunel Rzayeva said that the event is dedicated to the International Children's Day and stressed that the Center has all the conditions for people with visual impairments.
The video version of the fairy tale "Gogal" was presented to the guests.
Vice-President of the Visually Impaired People Society of Azerbaijan Reyhan Jafarova informed the audience about the project. Representative of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population Lala Kazimova, Honored artists of Azerbaijan Nargiz Jalilova and Rafig Hashimov, director of the Information Resources Center for Braille publications Mais Muradov and others spoke about the importance of the project and the role of books in the lives of people with visual impairments.
During the event, children were presented the second issue of Baku Book Center’s OYAN kids magazine.
The musical part of the event featured singer Murad Sadikh, laureate of international competitions Jale Mailova and others.
