National writer of Kazakhstan, famous poet, linguist, public and political figure Olzhas Suleimenov today became a guest of the Baku Book Center. The poet met with Baku readers and representatives of the creative circles as part of “Conversation with the Writer” project.
In his homeland, Olzhas Suleimenov is called a poet-thinker of a planetary scale. His books have been translated into many languages of the world.
“Az I Ya” is the most famous book of the poet and writer, which caused a lot of heated debate after its first publication in 1975.
Speaking at the Baku Book Center, Olzhas Suleimenov said that he always comes to Azerbaijan with pleasure, because he has many friends here. “Baku is an incredibly beautiful city, I always admire the beauty of your capital and the hospitality of Baku people. This time I have also visited Sumgayit and was deeply impressed by its beauty. It is very pleasing that Azerbaijan is developing so rapidly,” said the Kazakh poet and also thanked the Baku Book Center for organizing the event.
During the meeting he also spoke about the Nevada-Semipalatinsk antinuclear movement, thanks to which the Semipalatinsk nuclear test site in Kazakhstan was closed in 1991, raised many other important topics, answered the questions of the audience and signed his books.
National writer of Azerbaijan Elmira Akhundova expressed gratitude to the poet, who always supported her creative activity in particular, when she worked on her “Heydar Aliyev. Personality and epoch" books.
National writer Natig Rasulzade emphasized that the contribution of Olzhas Suleimenov to the world literature is invaluable, and his work is relevant at all times.
