Every year on January 20 hundreds of thousands of Azerbaijanis visit the Alley of Martyrs in Baku, where victims of the tragic events of the 1990 “Black January” are buried. This date is still alive in the memory of eyewitnesses, despite the fact that 30 years have passed since the tragedy.
 
Prior to January 20 the Baku Book Center organized a literary and musical evening with the participation of famous musicians and poets
 
The host of the evening, actor Huseynaga Aslanov, poets Ayub Giyas, Salim Babullaoglu, Shahrun Suleymanli and Farid Huseyni read poems on the theme of the January tragedy.
 
The Baku Chamber Orchestra conducted by Honored Artist Fuad Ibragimov performed the works of Azerbaijani and European composers. The evening also featured Azerbaijani musicians Ismail Zulfugarov, Aslan Novrasli, laureates of international competitions Vusal Aidemirov and Ibrahim Mammadov, as well as winner of national and foreign competitions Nijat Masimov.
