A meeting with the People’s writer of Azerbaijan, honored art worker, literary critic Elchin was held at the Baku Book Center on Oct. 16.
The meeting was organized as part of the “Conversation with writer” project and was attended by well-known literary and public figures, friends of the writer and members of his family.
Addressing the participants, famous theater critic, honored art worker of Azerbaijan Maryam Alizade spoke about Elchin’s innovative literary style and his contribution to literary and theatrical art.
In turn, writer Elchin emphasized that the creation of the Baku Book Center on the initiative of the President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Mehriban Aliyeva, is a noble initiative that will play a big role in restoring the great role of books in our society.
The writer spoke about the special atmosphere that prevailed in Azerbaijani literature and art in the sixties of the 20th century, calling it an “artistic and aesthetic event” and about the enormous influence of the sixties on the worldview of future generations.
Elchin also spoke about his attitude to criticism and the rehearsals of his new play, written in the genre of "absurd" at Samad Vurgun Russian Drama Theater.
Literary critic Nizami Jafarov, People’s writer of Azerbaijan Elmira Akhundova, poet Salim Babullaoglu and Elchin’s fans took part in an interesting discussion with the writer.
The meeting of the famous writer with book lovers was held in a very positive atmosphere. At the end of the event, he signed his books for fans and took a picture with them.
"Dialogue with the writer" project of the Baku Book Center aims to organize meetings of famous writers, journalists and publicists with their readers and book lovers.
